The Gilman Scholarship Application to study abroad is now open!

If you are a student on financial aid and receiving the Pell grant that wants to study abroad, then make sure to apply for the Gilman Scholarship! It is a great opportunity for students to fund their international experience. UT Austin is consistently a top producer of Gilman Scholars.

The online application is now open and the deadline is Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (PT). It is open for sutdents whose in-person programs or internships start between May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023. This cycle encompasses Summer 2022, Fall 2022, Academic Year 2022-2023, and Spring 2023 programs or internships.

Education Abroad is hosting two virtual information sessions to help students prepare a competitive application. The information sessions will cover scholarship details, selection criteria and tips for submitting a competitive application. Education Abroad will also host one in-person writing workshop for essay review.

Gilman Scholarship Information Sessions

  • Tuesday, February 1, 2022, 5-6:30 p.m. via zoom
  • Wednesday, February 9, 2022, 3:30-5 p.m. via zoom

Gilman Shcolarship Writing Workshop

  • Friday, February 18, 2022, 1-4 p.m. in person at GAR 0.128
